The weekend of April 24th will be Mission Weekend, involving a prayer walk, concert, and South African dinner.
The prayer walk will begin on Friday the 24th and last 25 hours and 40 minutes, in honor of our partner organization "25:40" who will be joining us in this effort. Members of FPC's G.R.A.C.E. youth group will be walking quietly and prayerfully around the city of Fairfax in shifts throughout the day and night, so that there will constantly be at least a few members walking at once. The Sunday after our prayer walk will be Youth Sunday. The FPC youth group will lead the congregation in the worship service and inform them of our fundraising efforts. After the service, a benefits concert will take place on the church lawn. Local bands will be preforming and South African food will be available.
Our cumulative goal for the weekend is to raise $10,000 toward the construction of a new preschool in Ivory Park. A ceremonial groundbreaking has already taken place, and construction will begin in 2009.
